While staying at Casa Dorotea, you will be in the seventeenth-century historic centre of Meta di Sorrento. The closest restaurant, a grocery store and the bus stop for the EAV bus are 400 metres (1300 feet) away. This bus will take you to Sorrento's Marina Piccola (port) and Sorrento's train station where you can get trains to Pompeii and Naples or buses to Positano and Amalfi. The closest beach is roughly 800 meters (half a mile) from Casa Dorotea.

SPECIAL OFFER: If you stay at Casa Dorotea for 7 nights, you and your guests (up to 7 people) can enjoy a wonderful complimentary, Italian style meal in the garden (excludes drinks).

Casa Dorotea is located on the first floor and is one of three apartments in the block. It is accessible from the garden via an external staircase with approximately 20 steps.

The lounge is paved with characteristic terracotta tiles. The modern furnishings are stylish and comfortable. There are two large sofas and a satellite television. An extra bed can be added in the lounge (on request and extra charges may apply). The room has two windows with a view of the garden and the terrace. It is equipped with air conditioning/heating. The dining room is accessible from the lounge room and has a dining table which can accommodate 6 guests.

Leading off the dining room is the recently refurbished kitchen. It is well equipped with a four-burner gas cooker, an electric oven, a refrigerator with a freezer, a dishwasher and an Italian-style coffee-maker. The kitchen has a window with a view of the garden. Next to the kitchen, there is a small, partially covered terrace where there is a washing machine.

You can access the beautiful en-suite bedroom from the living room. The bedroom has a double bed (160 cm/62 inches, wider than a queen-size bed). The room has a window with a view of the private patio below the villa and the private garden with homegrown vegetables. The bedroom is equipped with a TV and air conditioning/heating. This bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, equipped with a washbasin, a flat screen TV, a toilet and a bathtub with shower and a Jacuzzi. You can even watch the television whilst you enjoy a hydromassage!

You can access the second bedroom from the corridor. It has twin beds (80 cm/32 inches) and a view of the garden. The bedroom is equipped with a flat screen TV and air conditioning/heating. The bathroom has a washbasin, a toilet, a fully enclosed shower and a hairdryer. It is accessible from the corridor. There is French window which gives access onto the terrace, facing the garden.

The terrace is 40 metres squared and is accessible from the lounge through sliding French doors. It is equipped with a table, chairs, sun loungers and a BBQ. From the terrace, you will have a view of the garden below and of the other buildings in the surrounding area but you will have your own privacy. Here you can relax with a drink and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

There is a third bathroom with a washbasin and a toilet. At the end of the corridor, there is a third bedroom, which also has a view of the garden. This is a double room but the beds can be separate to make it a twin. The bedroom is equipped with a flat screen TV and air conditioning/heating.

The private garden is 400 metres squared and is partly shaded by tall palm and lemon trees. It has a hammock and sun loungers where you can relax and enjoy the sunshine. Next to the garden is the private patio which is furnished with tables and chairs and covered to provide shade.

You will not need a car to stay at Casa Dorotea but if you do have one, you may be able to park it free of charge, off the road, only 30 metres away. Alternatively, you can park one car in a 'pay and display' car park, (approximately 100 metres away) on request free of charge to you.

"We really enjoyed the apartment"

Casa Dorotea is a very stylishly furnished apartment with beautiful view views over the green hills around Meta di Sorrento. We really enjoyed the apartment and spent quite a few nights there cooking for ourselves. Their terrace is heavenly. It is a 20 minute walk down the hill to the local beach and a short walk to the train station that takes you on a very short ride to Sorrento. Meta itself is very small, compact and quiet.

"I highly recommend this villa to anyone!"

Spacious, beautiful property, great location, great views and a private garden to relax in. The owner of the property lived here at one time and spared no expense with the detail of the property. She was always available and even invited us to lunch at her home for a real Italian meal. I highly recommend this villa to anyone that wants to stay in upscale accommodations at a reasonable price. You will not be disappointed!

"Amazing holiday"

We are a family of four and very much enjoyed our stay in this very well appointed apartment. The terrace in particular is beautiful and a natural focus for meals or just sitting and enjoying the view. The old cobbled streets are narrow and there is no car parking directly at the apartment, but there is a (pay) car park a short distance away. The train station is a 5 minute walk away and a short hop to Sorrento making it easy to go in for the evening - there are few restaurants in Meta. The agent, Carmine organised a private boat trip for us to Capri, which was a highlight and also a day tour to the Amalfi coast. Pompei is 20 minutes on the train. Meta beach gets very busy in high season, it is clean but dark, volcanic sand, the water is clear and warm but shelves away quickly. You pay to enter the beach area. We found Meta a good base to explore from, and the apartment a very comfortable home from home.

"Quiet Luxury near Sorrento"

The description and photographs say it all, this is a well appointed, spacious apartment in a quiet location with easy access to Sorrento & Pompeii etc. While the apartment itself is spacious, beautifully furnished and relatively cool (didn't need the AC in a hot week) we lived on the huge, shaded terrace, again adorned with quality furnishings along with good views of the surrounding country - even Capri in the hazy distance. The owner was there to greet us and was helpful throughout our stay. Great location if you want some peace and quiet in what is generally a noisy, frenetic area. Sorrento is just 10 minutes by train (station 250m, half-hourly service but timetables are 'indicative'). The nearest beach at Meta is only a 20 minute stroll way - although a bit of a climb back, buses are theoretically available but don't rely on them! I've been renting holiday property for over 40 years - only one or two have been equal to this apartment.

“More like a villa than an apartment --- Just outstanding!”

We were dazzled and enchanted by Casa Dorotea. It is spacious, nicely furnished and decorated, clean as a pin, and well equipped. It is a large apartment on the top floor of a three story building. It feels more like a villa than an apartment. The owner lives on site which is helpful if there is a problem. We loved staying here from the first minute we laid eyes on the apartment until our departure ten days later. The location is outstanding for touring the region. We rented a car and made day trips to Naples, Capri, Paestum, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello, and more. In our opinion, Sorrento is a much better place to stay than Capri or Positano because access is much easier for day trips. We were a party of four adults here for the first ten days of October. The weather was perfect. Sorrento is a lovely small city with great restaurants, shopping, and things to do. The apartment is actually located in Meta, which is a suburb of Sorrento. It is close to the main road and within easy walking distance of the train station. Most of the Sorrento peninsula, and the Island of Capri, is bordered by high cliffs overlooking the ocean. Nice beaches are scarce. However, they do have a very nice beach in Meta. There are private beach clubs there. You rent a lounge chair and umbrella. There is food and parking available and they tend not to be crowded. We spent one delightful and relaxing afternoon at Meta's beach. The water was clean and good for swimming. There was little or no wave action. There was only one thing we didn't like and that was the parking situation. The address is on a medieval street barely wide enough to drive a small car in one direction. There is no option but to park and walk. The nearest parking is metered street parking which is OK if a spot is available, but you have to feed the meter. There is a parking lot but it is a bit of a hike. We used the street parking and fed the meter except for one time when we couldn't find an open parking spot on the street. Parking was our only negative, and certainly not a big enough problem to be a deal killer. Though it would be possible to stay here using only the train, buses, and ferries for transportation, I would personally want a rent car.

“Meta Vacation”

Wow, this villa is beautiful! The six of us truly enjoyed a four-night stay in Meta at the end of our three-week vacation in Italy. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything we needed to cook ourselves wonderful meals. The BBQ was also a great plus. There were plenty of spaces for our group of six to find our own space - whether it was the dining room, living room, sitting room, bedrooms, patio, or garden, there was plenty to choose from. The photos were completely accurate! Meta is a sweet little town that was easy to get around. We made side trips to Pompeii, Vesuvius, and Sorrento on the local train. We also found a walking tour for Meta that introduced us to the town. We met local artists that create beautiful nativity figurines and three of us took home their treasures. Several meals were eaten at Convent Garden Restaurant - they have an extensive menu (the nutella calzone is my personal favorite). Since our trip was purposely scheduled at the end of the tourist season, we did not locate as much gelato as previously found in other cities. Oh well.... Carmine was our property manager and he was wonderful to work with. When we were departing, the owner invited us for a return visit. Yes, we would love to return to this beautiful villa. Oh, I should mention the views and picturesque sunsets were awesome. We will tell our friends about this treasure and we shall return!

“Wonderful Stay, Wonderful Hosts!”

Stayed at this lovely property for 4 nights at the end of September . The pictures are accurate but the property is more beautiful in person! The kitchen was fully equipped & the lovely hosts Dorothea & Franco even cooked a delicious meal for us one evening. The apartment is very spacious. We are a family of 3 couples & there was enough space for everyone to have quiet time as well as sitting together & enjoying the surroundings. There is a lovely outside deck/covered porch that we spent the most time in. There is also a small market within a five minute walk that had all the important staples. The gentleman that runs it was very kind & helpful. I would highly recommend staying here, very short walk to the train station even though we had a van we used the train to go to Sorrento & Naples. Wonderful location, wonderful accomedations & even more wonderful were the hosts! Dorothea & Franco thanks for the memories!

"Would highly recommend"

We were a family of myself, husband, brother and sister-in-law all 50+. This apartment is absolutely stunning, the pictures are very accurate. Huge, clean, well equipped rooms in quiet surroundings. Would have preferred a few more shops, bars, restaurants locally, but the peace and quiet was lovely. Meta train station is less than a five minute walk from the apartment and will take you to Sorrento in minutes and in the other direction, to Pompeii, Naples etc., very easy and cheap travelling. Covent Garden bar and restaurant is only a few minutes walk away and they do great food, very reasonably priced. Carmine the management of the apartment, was very helpful, he arranged a private minibus with Joe Banana Limos, to do a day tour around the Amalfi coast, well worth the money, don't miss out on this. Transfers to and from the apartment were also with Joe Banana Limos, very good service. Dorotea the owner of the apartment, was wonderful and visited a few times to check all was ok and to give advise on the local area. She also picked some vegetables from her garden and gave to us. She even came to the apartment and 5am on the morning of our departure, to bid us farwell !!! All in all a beautiful apartment, well managed and a delight to live in for two weeks. Would highly recommend.
